A tradition of trust, integrity & commitment.

Over the last three decades, Goelzer Investment Management has grown to be one of Indiana’s leading independent portfolio management firms. Goelzer is registered as an investment advisor and/or broker/dealer in over 30 states across the nation.

The Seventies.

In the spirit of Neil Armstrong’s historic first steps on the moon, 1969 saw the founding of Goelzer & Co., Inc. by Don W. Goelzer. Goelzer’s vision was to build a company based on trust, integrity and commitment, while providing the highest level of personalized service for clients. The plan was to forge long-term relationships with both its clients and the professionals that would join Goelzer in the years to come. During the ‘70s, we witnessed the highs of the opening of diplomatic relations with China, the lows of a presidential resignation and the challenges of an OPEC embargo. During this period, Goelzer & Co., Inc. established itself by providing clients with a dedication toward financial counsel.

The Eighties.

Goelzer & Co., Inc. grew steadily during the ‘80s, becoming a registered investment advisor in 1981. With the acquisition of Kiser, Cohn, & Shumaker—and the addition of Collett & Co., Inc.—Goelzer enhanced its professional excellence with the addition of highly regarded investment professionals from these established firms. The ‘80s were also the beginning of an important business relationship—Goelzer & Co., Inc. became a correspondent of Pershing, a division of Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation. This relationship uniquely positioned Goelzer to provide high- quality custodial and execution services to individual and institutional clients.

The Nineties.

The ‘90s began with a renewed optimism stemming from the end of the Cold War, which had gripped the world since WWII. A new freedom spread around the globe, symbolized by the opening of the Berlin Wall. As always, new challenges presented themselves and the United States found itself facing a conflict in the Persian Gulf. Throughout both the highs and lows, Goelzer & Co., Inc. guided its clients through the investment challenges caused by the geopolitics of a rapidly changing world. To reflect its position as a leading independent investment advisory firm, Goelzer & Co., Inc. changed its name to Goelzer Investment Management, Inc. Goelzer Investment Management continued to expand throughout the ‘90s by providing the same level of trust, sound investment discipline, professionalism and personalized service to its clients.

The Twenty-First Century.

As one of Indiana’s leading independent investment advisory firms, Goelzer Investment Management entered the new millennium with over 30 years of experience and momentum to build on its founding principles. The peaceful worldwide celebration of the new century was spectacular with no Y2K problem and the settlement of the presidential election. However, our world has changed since then and an age of uncertainty has replaced the joy of the year 2000. The terrifying 9/11 attacks, wars fought in Afghanistan and Iraq, the collapse of the dot-com bubble, broad economic weakness, corporate malfeasance and the mutual fund scandal have each struck blows at our collective, general optimism—and more particularly—at our trust in the financial services industry. In spite of these troubling events and with faith in a brighter future, Goelzer Investment Management increased its professional staff, expanded its office facilities and invested in systems to better serve its clients and to accommodate new client growth. In such an age of uncertainty, we remain committed to our goal of preserving and growing our clients’ capital by relying on those same founding principles: forging long-term personal advisory relationships with our clients, while consistently displaying integrity, trustworthiness, expertise and commitment.
