United Way

For more than a decade, Goelzer Investment Management has been privileged to partner with United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI). In 2011, the firm is stepping up its involvement—with a significant increase in financial commitment and hands-on involvement.

“We began working with United Way years ago because it is a wonderful and highly respected organization with more than 100 member agencies that touch the community in so many ways,” comments Gregory Goelzer, Chief Executive Officer. “We decided that United Way presented a unique opportunity to further our participation in filling a wide variety of needs in our community.”

Financial Involvement
This year’s campaign marks a milestone in the firm’s United Way involvement. “For 2011, Goelzer Investment Management is helping to meet the increased demand for services in our community with 100% employee participation AND an overall 60% increase in giving from the previous year,” states Dick Hester, Chair of the Finance, Insurance and Securities Team for the 2010 UW of Central Indiana Campaign. “This shows not only the corporate values of the company, but the commitment and individual values of the people who work there. In a difficult economy, the people of Goelzer Investment Management have dug deeper, worked harder, and cared more.”

The United Way of Central Indiana is part of the United Way Worldwide national network of more than 1,300 locally governed organizations that work to create lasting changes in communities and people’s lives. United Way of Central Indiana supports more than 100 human-service agencies and operates in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties. UWCI raised $38.2 million in the 2010’s campaign; it draws more than 98% of its 75,809 donors from workplace campaigns.

Personal Involvement
“In addition to 100% employee participation and a 60% increase in giving, our company is working with United Way to offer our associates the opportunity to ‘put hands and feet’ on their financial commitment by allowing them to take a paid work day and volunteer at one of the United Way’s member agencies,” explains Greg Goelzer. “As we do with Gleaners Food Bank, also an important community organization, we want to give our employees the chance to volunteer their time and talents, in addition to contributing their financial resources.”

“Goelzer Investment Management is committed to our partnership with United Way and incredibly proud of our employees, who understand the privilege and responsibility of giving back to the community and helping those in need,” adds Mr. Goelzer.
