Max D. Kime, Jr. Joins GIM as SR Investment Advisor

November 30th, 2009 @

Max D. Kime, Jr. has joined Goelzer Investment Management as a Senior Investment Advisor.  Following his October 2009 retirement after 31 years with JPMorgan Chase as Vice President & Senior Trust Officer, Max Kime joined the Goelzer team of investment advisors this month – including fellow bank alumni and former colleagues Andy Concannon, Walter Gross, Don Hutchinson and George Wild. He will also serve on our Investment Policy Committee.

In both 2008 and 2009 Mr. Kime was recognized by Indianapolis Monthly Magazine and Crescendo Business Systems as a “FIVE STAR in Client Satisfaction Wealth Manager” for the Indianapolis market.

From March 1979 through October 2009 Mr. Kime was a Vice President & Senior Trust Officer at JPMorgan Chase – corporate successor to both Bank One Corp and Indianapolis based American Fletcher Corporation – where his responsibilities have included portfolio management, trust and investment account administration, marketing, mentoring, satellite office liaison, special projects, outside speaking engagements and management of common trust funds.

Mr. Kime earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (with Distinction) in Philosophy from Purdue University in 1972, spent a year at the University of Strasbourg in France and completed his Master of Science degree in Industrial Relations in 1974 from the Purdue’s Krannert School of Management. He continued at Krannert pursuing doctoral studies in Collective Bargaining. He also taught Industrial Relations both as a graduate teaching assistant and later as an Instructor. During his college years, he was a member of the 1968 Purdue GE-College Bowl Team appearing on NBC-TV in November 1968 and won awards for non-fiction writing.

In 1975 Mr. Kime began his non-academic career with the Indiana Education Employment Relations Board, State of Indiana, where he was a hearings officer and labor mediator.  He adjudicated public sector bargaining unit cases and mediated school teacher versus school board contract bargaining disputes – preventing strikes in all cases.  Under Public Law 254 he also supervised non-teacher union certification and decertification elections – including the Teamsters Union and the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees.

Mr. Kime started his financial services career in 1977 as an Account Executive and Registered Representative with Dean Witter. He left this position to start his 31 years with JPMorgan Chase – initially with legacy American Fletcher National Bank.
