GOELZER INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT HAS ALREADY DONATED 65,000 MEALS
TO FEED THE HOMELESS, ENOUGH TO FEED LUCAS OIL STADIUM
Tailgate Celebration Held at NK Hurst Bean Field on November 16th
Prior to Colts vs. Houston Texans Game
On behalf of their clients, Goelzer Investment Management is celebrating the Colts season in style at a special Colts football tailgate party. The Indianapolis investment company will be donating 28,800 meals to Gleaners Food Bank to kick off the winter months. The third annual client event is being held on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NK Hurst Bean Field parking lot, located directly across from the new Lucas Oil Stadium.
Goelzer Investment Management is graciously donating three skids (3,600 bags) of NK Hurst beans to Gleaners Food Bank. Each bag of beans will feed eight people, generating up to 28,800 meals for needy people in Indianapolis. A bean dinner is high in complex carbohydrates, protein and dietary fiber, helping to satisfy hunger because it is absorbed slowly. Beans are also high in calcium, iron, folate, and potassium. “We are thrilled with this generous donation—and it helps kick off the winter season for Gleaners,” says Pamela Altmeyer, President and CEO of Gleaners.
Focusing on giving back to the community, Goelzer Investment Management believes in making a difference in the community and is happy to support Gleaners Food Bank. “This is the third year for our tailgate event and we are very proud of Goelzer’s commitment to Gleaners,” says Greg Goelzer, CEO of Goelzer Investment Management. “Since we began this event in 2006, we have fed over 65,000 meals to the homeless—which is equivalent to the number of Colts fans seated in the new Lucas Oil Stadium. For over 39 years, Goelzer has been actively involved with various charities while becoming one of the leading investment firms in Indiana.”
Gleaners Food Bank works with charities in Indiana to help feed people in need. Over 137,000 Hoosiers are not hungry today because Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana provides food and critical groceries to hunger relief charities. Gleaners, a member of Feeding America (formerly America’s Second Harvest), was established in 1980. Since then the food bank has distributed over 225 million pounds of food and critical grocery products to nearly 400 hunger relief charities serving Hoosiers in need in 20 central Indiana counties. There are 205,330 Hoosiers who need food assistance on a weekly basis, with almost 37% of those people under the age of 18. By pairing up with Goelzer Investment Management and NK Husrt Beans, Gleaners is reaching a remarkable number of people at one time. To learn more, log onto www.gleaners.org.
