Determining Your Asset Allocation

Your Investor Profile serves as the basis for determining the allocation of your investment funds among different asset classes such as equities, bonds, and alternative investments. Our asset allocation recommendations are a reflection of our fundamental investment philosophy of diversification and risk management. These recommendations are made only after careful consideration of all factors arising from defining your Investor Profile.

Goelzer’s specific asset allocation methodology evaluates long-term asset class returns, volatility of those returns, and correlation of returns among asset classes. We complement this longer-term, strategic analysis with a tactical approach that aims to take advantage of inefficiencies in asset pricing while avoiding overpriced assets. We believe that such tactical asset allocation – making periodic changes in the amounts invested within different asset classes – can enhance investment returns and reduce risk.

Our approach to tactical analysis contemplates:
• The near-term economic environment to gauge potential impact on each asset class
• Current market valuations of each asset class to identify “asset bubbles” as well as shorter-term opportunities
• Relative valuations of each asset class

The resulting recommended asset allocation is one that reflects both our disciplined approach and your unique Investor Profile.
